Skin Sanctuary is a NO DOUBLE DIP spa. Each wax stick we use is clean and new. By this we mean that the wax stick is placed into the wax pot, then applied it to the area/skin to be waxed. The stick is thrown away in the trash can immediately.

We do this for many reasons. Imagine how many people are being waxed every day with just one stick and you keep double dipping? The tin of wax could have traces of blood, hair, and more. It would be a breeding ground for bacteria, which is extremely unsanitary.

Wax doesn’t heat up to a high enough temperature to ‘kill’ any bacteria. This is a myth, so please don’t be fooled into believing this. If anything, since it is kept at a warm temperature, it is more likely to be a perfect breeding ground for germs to thrive and multiply. Germs love warm places! We pride ourselves on sanitation and making sure our clients are in the healthiest of hands.

Lash Lift

A lash lift is a perm that provides weeks-long lift and curl to your lashes without having to mess with tools, curling wands, and false lashes - 45 minutes $55. (Removes lash extensions completely.)

Waxing Pre-Care

• Shower and lightly exfoliate your entire area to be waxed right before your appointment using warm, not hot water. This helps to soften your hair and relax your pores. Also try to wear cotton undergarments, you don’t want super tight clothing irritating the freshly waxed area.
• Don’t use any lotions or oils on the area to be waxed. Do not use peels, retinols or microdermabrasion on the waxing area up to 24 hours prior to receiving a skin wax, also notify your technician if you are on blood thinners or any other medication that may make your skin prone to sensitivity
• Make sure your hair is at least 4 cm. The longer the better, our wax experts prefer trimming it themselves. Allow at least 3-4 weeks between waxing and / or shaving

Waxing Aftercare

• Avoid applying heat to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam
• If you are prone to small bumps after waxing, please do not pick. Hydrocortisone cream can be applied to the area
• Avoid sun tanning for 12 to 24 hours. This includes any strong ultraviolet (UV) light exposure or tanning bed treatments
• Avoid applying highly fragrant products to the waxed area. This includes perfume, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays
• Avoid using harsh abrasive or exfoliates in the waxed area. However, if you are prone to in-grown hairs, the day after your waxing treatment, gently exfoliate newly waxed area with a loofah to avoid future problems
• Any pinking of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing lasts so much longer

For best results, repeat your wax every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.

Tinting Aftercare

Please avoid oil cleansers. Oil will breakdown the color of the tint.
